Origami storytelling

Storytelling is a common activity inside and outside the classroom. Teachers, parents and grandparents spend part of their time telling stories for the purpose of having fun, teaching and creating an atmosphere in which learning takes place succesfully and almost unconciously.

Therefore, children have to feel this activity as an interesting way of learning and we, as storytellers, have to use an interesting methodology that involves children. You can find a wide range of ways of telling stories.

In this video, we provide you with an original idea to catch up children's attention, which consist of telling a very easy story with repetitive structures using origami. Several figures are made while we tell a story call "King Nicolas"which replace the illustrations.

It is not a common way of telling a story, and probably new for most of the children, so they will find it very interesting. Also, we can ask them to predict what origami figure they think they is so they can tell the story and get them involved.

Today we present you our new creation from www.Soundcloud.com. Our aim with these recordings is to foster communicative and listening skills while at the same time we show different aspects about storytelling.

Movie Trailer

In order to engage people to visit our blog, we have created a trailer in which we present a brief introduction of what you would find in this site.

First of all, we designed a storyboard to organise our ideas before recording it, which is a very useful tool with which you can obtain better results because it is a guide to follow while recording the video.

After recording the different scenes for the video, we used Adobe Photoshop Premiere CS6 to create a single video using  all the pieces. Of course, you can use other tools which do not have to be downloaded, but we have choosen this one because it offers you a wide range of resources, tools and templates to create your video according to your purposes.

Logo

We present the logo we have designed for our blog using Sothink logo maker tool. There are a lot of resources to design a logo, but we have decided to use this tool because is easy to use and very visual. Also, it allows you to use plenty of designs and templates.

We encourage everyone to create your own logo so your blogs, wikis and sites will look nicer.

Hi everyone!

We are three students of a master's degree: Álvaro, Laura and María.

We welcome everyone into our first blog in which our two main aims are to present and share different stories we have adapted to teach specific contents and to provide a variety of resources we think are very useful in order to create your own stories.

We consider stories a good tool to teach contents to children who will be learning and having fun at the same time. That way, they will acquiere these contents unconciously. Also, we invite you to exchange your stories and tools in our blog so other people who are interested in this topic will be able to enjoy the provided resources.
